Burlesque for the Boardroom is where business, politics & pleasure unite to show the world what leadership looks like
on women's terms. This is the heroine's journey. Join women around the world to build unshakable confidence, influence, and powerful leadership. Watch my talk at Ignite Seattle: To be a great leader, perform burlesque.
I teach concrete and embodied leadership skills through the eyes of a professional burlesque performer. Want to know more about what burlesque is, why I choose burlesque, and who my burlesque persona is? Visit my blog.

Why look at leadership through burlesque? Because burlesque offers an example of the glorified feminine. Burlesque has shown me what it means to live, work, love and lead on woman's terms, rather than trying to fit into the old boys' club. I've learned how to bring my whole self to my work, life and relationships. I've learned about radical self-acceptance and self-love. And, I've learned to insist on the power of the feminine.

By night, I'm a glittery, glamorous vixen, and co-owner of Sinner Saint Productions, a burlesque dance company. Sinner Saint’s mission is to celebrate the human experience through smart, sexy entertainment. The troupe tours internationally, performing narrative cabarets, creating neoburlesque theatre, and teaching women how to embrace every bit of their femininity.
Sinner Saint uses burlesque to challenge internalized and institutionalized oppression, to contest the social-political landscape, to evoke joy, and to embrace feminine sexuality. Though we engage audiences through entertaining and humorous performances, our passion is in helping women heal the wounds of patriarchy and misogyny. Sinner Saint helps celebrate all that women are capable of. |

What Inspired Burlesque for the Boardroom?
I wanted to know if women could be seen as credible, influential and sexual. We've been taught it's imperative to desexualize ourselves in order to succeed in business, politics and in our communities. However when I saw my first burlesque show, I saw women embracing their sexuality and becoming better leaders as a result. I saw a prototype of women leading like women.
I wanted to see leadership development designed for and by women. I knew there had to be more than just fitting us into a system that is designed to exclude us. The dominant paradigm is focused on climbing the ladder, getting into the boy's club, and breaking the glass ceiling. Sexuality is left out of every leadership conversation, when in fact women's sexuality improves their leadership. If we want to talk about wholeness and authenticity, sex must be a part of that conversation.
Burlesque not only promoted radical self-acceptance, but helped women develop a commanding presence and unapologetic confidence. As we know, confidence is the foundation for leadership success.
Being a leader and being a woman is challenging. It is exhausting, constantly having to prove yourself……prove your ideas, your experience, your contributions, your power, and your worth. How many of these problems can you relate to? Our sex, gender, race, religion, class, profession, family and cultural identities intersect, sometimes benefiting us but other times inhibiting us.
You have more important things to do than defend your credibility and power. Women need to run multi-million dollar companies that value their employees, respect the environment, and improve the community. Women need to cure cancer, rebuild the educational system, and start running for office. Women need to raise healthy, happy, thriving families and a new generation of compassionate leaders. Women need to, and deserve to, have intellectually, financially, emotionally, sexually, and spiritually marvelous relationships. Women need to solve the greatest global problems of our time.

Every woman deserves to have faith in her value and purpose. Whether on stage, at school, a stay-at-home mom, or working your way to the C-Suite, women must connect to the source within them that rages with life. Women must embrace their passion and their power. They must become the leaders they have been waiting for, and they must mentor new generations of women.

Inspired by my social justice, organizational development and performing arts backgrounds, I developed Burlesque for the Boardroom to offer women the opportunity to build their confidence, influence and leadership skills while celebrating the wild feminine.
